our location – the Hänsch Villa

The patron’s residence is an Art Deco villa protected as an historical monument. Our prestigious building was constructed in Großschönau between 1927 and 1930. It is exemplary of the heyday of the textile industry in Lusatia. The ensemble is currently being renovated piece by piece with painstaking detail in coordination with the Saxon State Office for Monument Preservation, preserving the unique historical substance for future generations while simultaneously meeting modern demands for sustainability and accessibility.
Projects in the Three-Country-Corner
The Patrons of the Arts and Sciences have consciously settled in the eastern part of Upper Lusatia on the borders with Poland and the Czech Republic. Here in this tri-border region, the European idea is lived actively in central Europe. Großschönau in the Görlitz-Zittau district has an important industrial past and present in the textile industry. The Zittau Mountains offer our guests from near and far both cultural attractions and a spectacular landscape backdrop. |
